What is a treeline And why is it important for hiking

Why do trees not grow beyond the treeline?
Trees cannot withstand the harsh conditions that are present at high altitudes, which have a cold temperature and low humidity, and they are often dense with snow and there are strong winds, so they prefer to gather together in areas where the conditions are more suitable, such as humans.
